Metal bench leg kits raise a greenhouse bench frame to working height. Each kit includes four legs, braces and all hardware required for installation, in a choice of three heights: 24″, 30″ and 36″.
Benches are shipped and stored without legs to keep freight costs down and allow frames to be stacked flat between seasons. Adding a leg kit converts a frame into a freestanding bench. Growers who move benches seasonally, or who set frames on cement blocks during part of the year, can add or remove legs as needed rather than committing to a fixed installation.
This kit is legs, braces and hardware only. The bench frame and bench top surface are sold separately.
Choosing a leg height
Bench height affects how comfortably crews work, how much headroom you have above the crop, and how much space you gain underneath. It is worth a minute of thought — you will live with the decision for a long time.
24″ — low bench
Choose this height when the crop needs vertical room. Tall finished plants, large containers, and any bench sitting under hanging basket lines all benefit from a lower surface. Also the right choice if you plan to grow or store on a second level underneath, since it keeps the top surface within reach.
Best for: tall crops, large containers, benches beneath hanging baskets, houses with limited peak height.
30″ — standard bench
The most commonly ordered height and a reasonable default. It sits at roughly table height, which works for a mix of seated and standing tasks and keeps the crop canopy easy to see and reach across a 4′ wide bench.
Best for: general production benching, mixed crops, operations standardizing on one height across a range.
36″ — high bench
The most comfortable height for crews standing and working with their hands for long stretches — transplanting, sticking cuttings, grading, sleeving. Roughly counter height, so it puts the work surface at a level that does not require bending. It also opens up the most usable storage space underneath.
Best for: transplanting and propagation areas, headhouse and work benches, retail display, maximizing under-bench storage.
A note on measuring: the height listed is the leg height. Your finished work surface will sit slightly higher once the frame and bench top are installed. No. This kit is four legs, braces and hardware. The bench frame and the bench top surface are each sold separately. A complete bench requires all three.
Which height should I order?
30″ is the most common and a safe default for general production. Choose 24″ if the crop is tall or the bench sits under hanging baskets, and 36″ if crews will be standing and working at the bench for extended periods. See the height guide above.
Can I mix heights across my greenhouse?
Yes, and many operations do — taller benches in the headhouse and propagation area where people work standing, lower benches in production where crop height matters. Just keep any single bench run at one height.
Do I need special tools?
No. All required hardware is included and the kit installs with standard hand tools.
Can legs be added to a bench that's already in use?
Yes. Benches are commonly ordered without legs and converted later, or set on blocks seasonally and put on legs when needed.
How many kits do I need?
One kit per bench section. Longer runs need additional support — call us with your bench dimensions if you are unsure.
